Red grapes probably coming from "vitis labrusca" wild wild vines of the Apennines. Together with other varieties of Lambrusco, is the namesake of the wine grapes produced in Emilia, in the provinces of Modena, Parma and Reggio Emilia, but also in the province of Mantua, and in some areas of Piedmont, Trentino and Basilicata.

Viticulture and winemaking
It has medium leaf rounded, three-lobed and slightly serrated; bunch medium to large, elongated, cylindrical-pyramidal, compact enough, often enough with a wing delivery, medium berry, spheroid, thick skin and large, blue-black, pruinose.
