Red grape variety of possible origins wild (Vitis silvestris) and then tamed. It 's very popular in the provinces of Modena and Mantua and is also called Castelvetro and Lambrusco Lambrusco di Spezzano.

Viticulture and winemaking

It has medium leaf, round, pentagonal, sometimes entire or lobed, dark green in color, medium cluster, long and straggly, pyramid-shaped wing with a very pronounced; medium berry, almost oval, with thick, large, blue- black covered with abundant bloom. It has good vigor and productivity abundant and constant, mature in early October. The wine made from it is fruity and crisp, is mostly vinified in red but sometimes white or rosé should be drunk young.
