A native of the area of Vittorio Veneto, Treviso Hills, has had some success in the past thanks to its strong resistance to rot and its pleasant sweet taste. In 1870 the Commission of the Province of Trento Ampelography described it sweet, long-lasting. It is also cited by Dalmasso and oil in 1936-37 as one of the most cultivated grapes in the province of Treviso. Currently it is mainly used in varying percentages in the production of sweet Torchiato Fregona.
Viticulture and winemaking
Environmental and cultural characteristics and needs : It has large leaves, pentagonal and five-lobed, medium cluster, pyramid, winged and compact media, the berries are medium size but irregular, elliptical, with thick, firm, green- yellowish, with brown spots and light bloom on the skin. The flesh has a particular taste, sweet. Its high vigor does not recommend placing it in fertile soil.
Diseases and adversity : he has good tolerance to parasitic diseases, defends himself very well from sour rot, but not against the drought.
