Biancolella


History


White grape popular in Campania, in the provinces of Naples and Caserta and in particular the island of Ischia. It 'probably they have brought to the island's ancient inhabitants of the Greek island of Evia. The Guyot (1868) quotes the Biancolella among the vines grown on Ischia and in Corsica. Other confirmations dela presence of the grape on the island come from a bell Rovasenda (1877) and Frojo (1871). The synonyms used are Jancolella or Janculella, Biancolella true and Petite Blanche in France.

Viticulture and winemaking


Environmental and cultural characteristics and needs : It has medium leaf, orbicular, lobed or five lobes, medium cluster, cylindrical or pyramidal, compact, often with two short wings, medium berry, especially if compressed spherical or irregular, with thin, tender, coated with bloom, pale green irregular. He has average production. It prefers soils with low fertility, loose, volcanic in origin, but also adapts to clay and compact. Is raised in the medium and low growth with pruning long or short.

Diseases and adversity : It 's quite resistant to adverse climatic conditions, tolerates most fungal diseases, is susceptible to mildew .
